NEW THING #366: IT'S OVER!!

By "it" I mean this project and this year, not my life, joy, ambition or desire to be weird. That goes on flourishing forever.
Since I considered Saturday to be the big "going out" to-do, I wasn't going to try to top it. So I rode around Manhattan in a limo eating candy. I took the afternoon off and was joined by some lovelies who don't have to work during the day (and one man-lovely who does, but who generously consented to letting us give him a 10-minute ride around Wall Street after we were done toodling around midtown. I couldn't have imagined doing my Last Thing without him). It was one of those things I've always said I'd rather be doing than working. So I did it!

Amanda made me a sash! It, and her coffee table, says "Jen 365 In the New."

Congrats Jen. I hope year 30 is as great as year 29 was. Happy early birthday!

Now my coffee table says "3 5 new" so I think it's an omen...35 is only 5 years away!
I will miss getting calls to throw money off buildings, ride in limos, and turn cubes...but deep down I know we will always continue to do these things.
Thanks for being you.

Hi Jen,
I didn't always have a chance to read daily, I always made sure that I caught up.
I'm sure that we'll be seeing more of you throughout the years as you continue to inspire and entertain.
I hope you have a very happy 30th birthday!

Hi and happy birthday from Lisbon, Portugal!

Got to say that it's a bit of a sad day for me as I was used to reading your new things with my coffe every morning at the office for the past 6 months (by the time of your cnn interview) and that routine will be no more.

it's like the end of a really good book...

Thanks for opening the doors of your life and leting me in on your great idea (well, "in" as a silent reader and positive thinker). As many have and will continue to tell you, you are an inspiration on living. I hope that you can acomplish all you dream and that i'll hear more from you in the future (only good things!).

If you're ever planning on coming to this little peace of paradise by the sea that is my country feel free to contact me for a personal tourist guide. it's the least I can do.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY again!
(and please let me know how the 30's are going for you as I'm a year and a half from it...)

Thank you
Francisca

Jen, happy birthday from Salt Lake City! I will miss my daily update on your Things, but I thank you so much for sharing. In honor of your project, I'm thinking of learning and memorizing one new song each month (on the piano, guitar, or violin) during my 27th year... Best wishes!

Man, I'm going to miss reading your new things every day. But, you've inspired many others of us to do daily new things (which I enjoy reading too) - and knowing first hand how challenging it is to come up with something new everyday, I bet you feel just a tiny bit of relief right about now. Best of luck with all new things in your life. Now that you've got so much free time, come read some of the rest of our blogs. :)
